Reasons NumbersUSA Was Founded

NumbersUSA was founded on the idea that the right number of legal immigrants to be admitted to the country is crucial for preserving life in existing conditions. It has had a lot of success, as evidenced by its membership of two million supporters across America. The organization is dedicated to educating people about American immigration policy and finding solutions through legal channels.

Through its civil forums: NumbersUSA Action and NumbersUSA Education and Research Foundation, it enlightens the public, leaders, and policymakers on dangers posed by high immigration numbers on environmental, economic, and American Quality of Life.

Roy Beck, founder of NumbersUSA, began his career as a journalist. In 1996 Roy Beck founded the organization to educate people about the problems associated with American immigration policy at that time. At the time, Beck was researching the social and economic costs of immigration policy and decided to start a public education organization that would raise awareness about the realities of immigration and create an environment in which politicians would be forced to acknowledge public feelings about this issue.

Since its founding, NumbersUSA has had many achievements. It has helped to stop the expansion of immigration and to enact immigration policies that focus on staying within current levels of legal immigration. It has also been able to change the perception of many people in the public by making the public aware of what a large percentage of the world’s population would look like if immigration was unchecked.

In its short existence, NumbersUSA has come a long way from its origins as an educational organization. Today it is one of America’s most effective political organizations, which continues to find ways to educate and inform on American immigration policy.

Its strategies have always focused on educating the public and changing policy through a legal process. The organization has kept its focus on increasing public awareness of the economic and social impacts that population growth has on communities in America. Even though currently it is not possible for an individual American to contact Congress about his or her views about immigration, NumbersUSA continues to be dedicated to finding ways to make this happen.
