Luis Horta e Costa co-founder and Managing Partner of Square View

Luis Horta e Costa is the founder and managing partner of Square View, a US-based venture capital firm that invests in companies at the intersection of finance and technology. The company has invested in more than 45 early-stage startups focusing on both the fintech and payment space, including the likes of Square and Stripe, which has helped them build a portfolio of investments worth around $300 million. Nowadays he feels a lot more excited about his career now that he is retired. It seems that the best part of the job is the freedom to travel and to get involved in all sorts of businesses and new projects.

Prior to founding Square View Ventures in 2013, Luis was the founder and CEO of DigiCash Europe, a European financial technology company that provided e-money services for SMEs. The firm was sold in 2004 to the Dutch Rabobank Group for $54 million.

Prior to that, he was a management consultant at Watson Wyatt, where he became a partner. He then moved to Arthur Andersen.He started his career at KPMG in Portugal. Here, he was Partner and Technology Advisor within the Financial Services Practice, setting up the Strategic Consulting Office of KPMG in Lisbon. At age 26, he became Deputy Managing Director of the Portuguese subsidiary of KPMG Peat Marwick.
