Today, mobile advertising is quickly becoming the face of online marketing, taking the title away from desktop advertising, which dominated the climate of online marketing over the last decade. It has been reported that the majority of people today often spend as much as 25 percent of their time using their smartphones and other mobile devices, and as evidenced by the revenue accrued in 2015, reaching a whopping $60 billion, this trend is sure to grow over the next few years. The power of social media has, in effect, been a large part of the online marketing growth of the last few years, as between 2014 and 2015, social media’s greatest entity, Facebook, saw an increase of close to 60 percent. Google has also benefited heavily from the rise of mobile advertising, as they saw nearly a 20 percent rise over that time span. When combined, Google and Facebook accounted for nearly 76 percent of the advertising growth in online marketing, meaning, those that chose to avoid these platforms, missed out on significant gains.

According to GC Report, while celebrities have long been part of marketing across the board, recent studies indicated that many of the most successful companies that have utilized mobile marketing have been using regular people to reach their audience, with a proven belief that they have been able to garner a greater connection.
